The two battles which formed part of the second Anglo Sikh War in 1849 will be compared and contrasted by Amarpal Singh. The Sikhs were led by Sher Singh which fought against the British forces led by Hugh Gough. Using battlefield maps the military strategies employed by the Sikhs and the British will be discussed.

Amarpal Singh Sidhu was born in the Punjab, India. He spent over 20 years working in the software industry before turning to his real interest in military history and the exploration and analysis of battlefields. Amarpal has appeared and collaborated on history programs for several TV channels. He currently lives in London with his wife and two sons.

The Newarke Houses Museum is a public museum in Leicester, England. It incorporates the museum of the Royal Leicestershire Regiment. It occupies two buildings: Wyggeston’s Chantry House, and Skeffington House.
