Mr Amarpal Sidhu, Military Historian, will talk on the Second Anglo-Sikh war, a a conflict no-one expected. In April 1848, two British officers were killed by a mutinous garrison in the southern Punjabi city of Multan. The murders triggered a local rebellion which over the months would develop into full scale war. The result would be the annexation of the whole of the Punjab and British control reaching the borders of Afghanistan.
