Celebrating Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s birth anniversary

ArtSikh hosted a great event for the final evening of the Sikh exhibition in Birmingham. Original artworks by Artists from around the world and art students from The Khalsa Academy Wolverhampton.  Th event was accompanied by Spoken Word Poetry by Eshmit Kaur & students from The Khalsa Academy Wolverhampton, Classical Music, with Arts & Historical Speakers. It was a packed event with everyone appreciating the work undertaken by the children from the academy as well as the great works on display by Bhinder Chopra, Amrit Kaur Bhara and new budding artist Gurbinder Manku.

Gurinder Singh Mann from the SMI gave a brief lecture on the Sikh Empire and the Anglo Sikh Wars. The Anglo Sikh Wars pop up exhibition was greatly appreciated and children were able to view Sikh relics on the touchscreen monitor.

The evening ended with awards given to Children from the Khalsa Academy Wolverhampton.  There was also stalls by the DKMS( Blood Cancer Charity) and the Royal Air Force. Light refreshments were served. The programme was filmed and shown live on the Sikh Channel.
